Ways to Meditate

There are lots of different ways to meditate. No particular way is necessarily “better” than another way – a lot comes down to personal preference.
So let’s take a look at the main different ways to meditate:
This is my preferred method of meditation. I’m lazy and this method suits me! With this kind of program, you simply listen to an MP3 track that has a mixture of binaural beats and something to keep your mind interested. This could be the sound of rainfall – theCenterpointe Holosync method uses this – or it could be my current favorite, theMeditation Program which takes you as deep as the Centerpointe program but in a fraction of the time.
Again, this is a very simple form of meditation. Although you already know how to breathe, using a breathing meditation will take you through to a deeper level of consciousness. At its simplest, the technique gets you to take long deep breaths and to use these to get your body quiet and relaxed. The best course I’ve found for breathing meditation is produced by Matt Clarkson – you can get more details at his Secrets of Meditation site.
This isn’t strictly a meditation technique but I’ve included it as lots of the resources that refer to cosmic ordering take you off into a trance to allow you to get in touch with the cosmos and place your order with it. Cosmic ordering is fun to play with – use it to “book” your parking space when you’re in a hurry or for more serious purposes.
These are a popular choice with many people. Guided meditations again do all the hard work for you. All you need to do is choose the subject you want to meditate on – for instance health, abundance or contacting your higher self – then sit back and listen to the track. There are no complicated rituals to learn, it’s a simple matter of listening to your chosen guided meditation.
Many people combine meditation with yoga. The two methods work hand in hand and you can meditate whilst you are doing your yoga or use meditation to help relax your body and make you better equipped to carry out your yoga sessions. If you haven’t got a yoga class near to you, take a look at this simple yoga course that comes with full instructions to get you up and running in the comfort of your own home.
