The world of Tea History of Tea at Starbucks Since we first opened our doors in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1971, tea has been a part of Starbucks. Our tea offerings have varied around the world - whether a Chai Tea Latte, a refreshing or a Mango Passion Fruit Blended Juice Drink – tea is infused in the culture of Starbucks. Like our coffee, tea at Starbucks is a journey of discovery where the experience and quality are matched by the passionate expertise of our baristas. Overview of Tazo, Starbucks tea supplier   Tazo Tea was born in 1994 when Steve Smith, a veteran of more than 30 years in the specialty tea industry, set out to breathe new life into the tea category and elevate the level of quality and enjoyment.  Our tea blends are created from fresh single-estate teas, the world’s finest botanicals and natural flavours. Samples from the world’s finest tea gardens arrive daily, but less than 10 percent of the teas we taste ever find their way into a final blend.  In 1999, Starbucks acquired Tazo LLC and to this day, continues to bring a diverse portfolio of tea products in many forms. Tazo still supplies tea to Starbucks although in international we are replacing the Tazo name with Starbucks. Our customers have a great belief in the Starbucks name and we believe this move will further help our tea sales.
